This illustration accompanies a short story in the Failure Issue. A geologist discusses the layers of the earth, but her lecture gets to be more about her ex-wife!

I wanted to give the appearance of her standing in front of projected lecture slides, so I added shadows at the front as if we are her audience. I also used a different colour to give each layer of the earth it’s own personality.

Counterpoint is risograph-printed, and this issue’s colours were fluro pink, orange, and teal. I used each colour in a variety of transparencies to create depth.
